Esther W. (Strohschein) Werner

March 11, 1923 ~ March 20, 2019 (age 96)

Esther W. Werner, age 96, of Hillman, Michigan passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2019, at Medilodge of Hillman.

Esther W. Strohschein was born March 11, 1923 to the late Herman and Victoria (Wolters) Strohschein in Montmorency Twp., Michigan. Esther married Alfred Werner on March 3, 1943 in Royston, Michigan and shortly thereafter they moved to the Pontiac, Michigan area where Alfred was employed by General Motors until his retirement in 1970. They then moved to Quartzsite, Arizona. While there, Esther and Al met and made many friends and would take day trips into the desert to ride their motorcycles, hunt rocks, go to old ghost towns, and play cards. In the summer, they would either come back to Michigan to spend time with family or go to Montana with their friends to collect items of interest to make assorted crafts to sell at the annual craft show they had in Quartzsite, Arizona.

Though Esther was not blessed with children of her own, she had numerous nieces and nephews to lavish attention on, which was reciprocated back to her.

Esther is survived by her sister, Elsie Sauer; brothers, Art (Eleanor) Strohschein from Hillman, Raymond (Janet) Strohschein from Hillman; sisters-in-law, Verna Jean Strohschein, Monte Strohschein, and Verla Strohschein.

Esther was preceded in death by her brothers, Leo Strohschein, Herman Strohschein, Julius Strohschein; sisters, Agnes Schalk, Ruth Schlak, infant sister Johanna Strohschein; and a newborn baby brother.
