Eleanor Ruth McLaren, 84, of Lachine passed away Thursday, January 2, 2020, at Medilodge of Hillman.
Eleanor Ruth Cronk was born on August 7, 1935, in Atlanta, Michigan to the late Robert and Violet (Wark) Cronk. On December 28, 1957, she married Marvin R. McLaren. She worked as a librarian and substitute teacher at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Detroit for 13 years until her retirement and returning to the Hillman area. Eleanor was an active member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, a life member of Hillman V.F.W. Auxiliary, and volunteer at Habitat for Humanity. She sold Avon for 30 years.
Surviving are her husband, Marvin; four children, Robert (Lori) McLaren, Michael McLaren, Melanie (Roger) Garcia, Bernard (Lorri) McLaren; 9 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; four siblings, Roberta (Ronald) Abbe, William (Lana) Cronk, MaryJo (Cleve) Spooner, and Laura Mae Cronk.
Mrs. McLaren was preceded in death by her grandson, Michael McLaren; and brother, Robert Cronk.
Visitation will take place Tuesday, January 7, 2020, at St. Augustine Catholic Church from 10 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at noon with Rev. Michael P. Conner officiating. Arrangements have been handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.
