Daniel Frampton

1949 ~ 2018 (age 69)

Daniel Frampton, 69, of Alpena, has died at home following a stroke.

Born in Allegan, Michigan, Daniel graduated from Plainwell High School in 1967 and from Michigan State University in 1972 with a Bachelor of Science degree.   He continued his education by earning an RN degree in 1984 and a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing in 1985.

Daniel and the former Karen Dodge met at MSU and were married in Grosse Isle, Michigan, moving to Alpena in 1974 to build their home and raise a family. Daniel worked for several years for State of Michigan Social Services, then in 1987 joined the nursing staff at Alpena Regional Medical Center, retiring in 2011.

He very much enjoyed his community, spending time sailing, fishing, woodworking, and maintaining the family home on the lake. An avid hunter, he bagged both a deer and a turkey every year and was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. Daniel and Karen also traveled with their children, visiting nearly every national park.

A tenderhearted family man, Daniel was a strong believer in education, saving to ensure his and Karen's children had the resources to attend college. He was active in building projects and many other activities at Living Hope Church and supported African Inland Mission, the Alliance to Defend Freedom, and National Pro-Life Alliance.

Daniel is survived by Karen, his wife of 46 years; children Matthew of Alpena, Vincent (Joanna) of Grand Rapids, and Juli of Seattle, WA; two grandchildren, Aria and Peter Frampton; sister Nancy (Pete) Morehouse of Plainwell, and brother Rick (Delores) Frampton of Otsego. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dwight and Ruth Frampton; brother Ben Frampton; and sister Connie Frampton.

Visitation will take place at Bannan Funeral Home on Thursday from 2-8 p.m. with a nurse’s honor guard service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue Friday at Living Hope Church from 10 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Lee Blanchard officiating.
