Clayton Bernard Beattie

April 9, 1927 ~ June 4, 2018 (age 91)

Clayton Bernard Beattie, 91, of Presque Isle passed away Monday, June 4, 2018 at Medilodge of Alpena.

Clayton was born April 9, 1927 in Detroit to the late John and Margaret (Chapman) Beatty. He served in the United States Coast Guard as a Merchant Marine. On December 18, 1948 he married Norma Kwiatkowski. She preceded him in death on March 3, 1994. On November 11, 1999 he married Irene Malenfant. Clayton worked at Huron Portland Cement for 40 years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and Rambling Rods Car Club. He enjoyed carpentry work, flowers, and decorating with Christmas lights, winning the Alpena Power Light contest many times.

Surviving are his wife, Irene; seven children, Wayne (Marcy) Male, Audrey Hanson, Linda (Charles) Currie, Randy (Sherry) Beattie, Sheryl (William) VanSipe, Cathy Beattie, Jane Pyne; 12 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; three brothers, Ron (Valerie) Beatty, Thomas Beatty, Terry (JoAnne) Beatty; sister, Karen Tessmer; sister-in-law, Carol Beatty; and Irene’s family.

Mr. Beattie was preceded in death by his daughter, Brenda Turske; two grandsons; and two brothers, Robert and Lyle.

Visitation will take place at Bannan Funeral Home on Thursday from 2-8 p.m. with a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. and continue Friday at St. John the Baptist Church of All Saints Parish from 10 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. with Rev. Joseph Muszkiewicz officiating.
