Chester Robert “Bob” Kowalski, 82, of Alpena passed away Tuesday, September 25, 2018.
Bob was born December 28, 1935 in Alpena to the late Chester and Florence (Robinette). Bob served in the United States Army from 1955 until his honorable discharge in 1957. On August 3, 1957, he married Dorothy Bruski. She preceded him in death August 30, 2018. He worked as the Division Manager of General Telephone until his retirement in 1990 after 37 years. Bob was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, past member Alpena Rotary, Chamber of Commerce and the Knights of Columbus. As an active outdoorsman, Bob enjoyed hunting camp, big game hunting in Canada, woodworking, playing tennis and golf.
Surviving are his 5 children, Diane (David) Denis, Glen (Shelly) Kowalski, Karen (Donald Bossardet) Kowalski, Robert (Claire) Kowalski, Annette (Jeffrey) Deppong; 10 grandchildren, Matthew (fiancée Katie Dawson) Denis, Ellen Denis, Marie (Bill) Campbell, Katherine (Dave Willis) Bossardet, Paul Bossardet, Zachary Kowalski, Nicholas Kowalski, Brenden Kowalski, Brian (Katie) Deppong, Benjamin Deppong; 2 great grandchildren, James, Alexander Campbell; 4 siblings, Dolores Corcoran, John “Jack” (Julie) Kowalski, Gerald Kowalski, Linda (Randy) Bicksler, sister-in-law Thao Kowalski, and Judy Kowalski.
Mr. Kowalski was preceded in death by, a brother, James Kowalski; a brother-in-law, Jack Corcoran.
Visitation will take place on Friday at Bannan Funeral Home from 2-7 p.m. with military honors accorded him by VFW Alpena Post 2496 at 5 p.m. and a parish prayer service at 6 p.m. Visitation will continue Saturday at St. Mary Church of All Saints Parish from 9 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. with Reverend Scott Lawler officiating.
Interment: Holy Cross Cemetery
