Justin Dominic Skowronek, 83, of Alpena, passed away Wednesday, October 10, 2007, at his home surrounded by his family.

Born in Alpena on April 15, 1924 to the late Andrew and Anna Skowronek, he married Gladys MacArthur on May 10, 1947 at St. Anne Catholic Church. Justin was a lifelong resident of Alpena and a veteran of World War II. He was employed by National Gypsum Co. for 40 years, retiring May 1, 1986.

Justin was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church and the Ushers Club; a life member of the Knights of Columbus; and a life member of the D.A.V.

Surviving are his wife, Gladys; 6 children: Mary Stoddart of Allen Park, Julie McMahan of Canton, Peggy (Bruce) LaFleche of Alpena, Cindy (George) Allen of Alpena, Gary Skowronek of Albuquerque, NM; and Terry (Shannon) Skowronek of Alpena; 11 grandchildren; 2 great-granddaughters; a sister, Lucy Gorka of Warren; and 2 brothers, Daniel (Lucy) Skowronek of St. Clair Shores and Andrew (Char) Skowronek of Vanderbilt.

Preceding him in death were his brothers: Joseph, Aloysius, and Florian.

Mr. Skowronek is at the Bannan Funeral Home where friends may call on Thursday from 7-9 p.m. with a rosary at 7:30 p.m. and Friday 2-9 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday 11:00 a.m. at St. Anne Catholic Church with Rev. James Kendziorski officiating.
