Frances F. Raniszewski, 88, of 127 N. Sheridan Street , Alpena, was taken home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, September 26, 2007.

Born in Posen , Michigan on June 21, 1919 to the late Peter and Mary (Tadajewski) Gapczynski, her family farmed in the Bolton area.  Frances married Bernard Raniszewski on February 22, 1941 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Alpena.  He preceded her in death September 12, 1983.  Frances loved gardening, painting, embroidering, especially baking pies by the dozen for her family, and caring for her 11 children.

Mrs. Raniszewski was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.  Prior to St. John's , Frances was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church in Ossineke and their Altar Society.  She also participated in CFM, a bible study group.

Surviving are 10 children:  Marvin (Donna) Raniszewski, Genevieve (William) Burrone, Ronald (Dorothy) Raniszewski, Thelma Schultz, Joe (Gaile) Raniszewski, Sharon (David) Woytaszek, William Raniszewski, Robert (Barbara) Raniszewski, Marion Sutton, and Chris (Kevin) Buchler; 29 grandchildren:  Helena, Mark, Renee, Bill, Melissa, Charles, Scott, Edwina, Connie, Wayne, Jamie, Charrnel, Greg, Deanne, Matthew, Krista, Rob, Chris, Richard, Mandy, Stephanie, Tiffany, Will, Steven, Bryan, Kenny, Heidi, Shawn, Alysia; 39 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her son, Laurence Raniszewski; 4 brothers, Stanley, Nicholas, Leo,  and Henry Gapczynski; 3 sisters, Anna Warway and infant sisters, Martha and Regina Gapczynski.

Mrs. Raniszewski is at the Bannan Funeral Home where friends may call on Thursday from 2-8 p.m. with a parish prayer service at 7:00 p.m.  Visitation will continue Friday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Patrick Maher and Rev. James Kendziorski officiating.

Interment:  Holy Cross Cemetery
