Evelyn E. Hodgins, 100, of 1401 Lake Winyah Road, Alpena, passed away Friday, February 5, 2010, at Tendercare/Greenview.

Evelyn was born in Lachine to the late Isaac and Effie (Loomis) Snider on May 18, 1909 and was a lifelong resident of the area.  Marriages took place to Ed Neumann, Earl Hodgins, Charles Roe, and William Hodgins, all of whom preceded her in death.

Mrs. Hodgins was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Lachine, the Ladies Guild, and Rebekah’s.

Surviving are her son, Kenneth; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 9 great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were 2 sons, Dale Newmann, Donald Newmann; great-grandson, Chad Smith; 3 sisters, Effie Monette, Gertrude Hibner, Hattie Vroman; and 2 brothers, Isaac Snider and Fred Snyder.

A memorial service will be held at Grace Episcopal Church in Lachine on Saturday, May 22, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Karen Thompson officiating.  Arrangements are being handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.
