Nelson D. Hawley, 75, of Lachine went to the Lord on Wednesday, February 24, 2010, at home surrounded by his family.

Nelson was born to Marion and Iva Hawley in Fairview, Michigan on June 26, 1934 and married Alice Johnson on December 21, 1954.

He is survived by his wife, Alice; 9 children, LuAnn, Steve (Kathy), Terry (Audrey), Brenda (Roy) Brotzke, Bryan (Julie), Mark (Cindy), Joe (Robin), Kevin (Niki), Michele; 22 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; brother, Kenny; 2 sisters, Irene and Hilda; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his loving parents; 1 grandson, Buddy; 7 brothers; and 1 sister.

Following his wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be a memorial service at the New Beginning Church in Hillman on Tuesday, March 2, at 2:00 p.m. for friends and family to gather and share his life. Rev. Arthur Fournier will be officiating. Arrangements are being handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.

His family would like to thank all the Hospice workers for all their support. It was a blessing to have them with us at this difficult time.
