Erna Florence Golder, 85, formerly of Luther Community Manor, Alpena, passed away at Country House in Ossineke on Tuesday, June 22, 2010.

Erna was born in 1925 on the 9th of January to the late John and Lydia (Messal) Siegert on a farm in the Wolf Creek area. She married Adolph Golder on October 30, 1943 at Salem Lutheran Church on Wolf Creek Road and had owned and operated Erna's Beauty Shop in Hubbard Lake. After retiring in 1993, she moved to Alpena.
Erna was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Herron, where she taught Sunday School. She enjoyed word puzzles, word games, reading, crafts, and watching birds and wildlife.
Surviving are a daughter-in-law, Diane Golder of Hubbard Lake; 4 sisters, Viola Krentz of Herron, Lydia Rickler of California, Mildred Kihn of Ossineke, and Florence (Wayne) McNeil of Hubbard Lake.
A son, Larry, preceded her in death along with 2 sisters, Rose LeFeldt, Pauline Frantz; and 4 brothers, Arnold, Ewald, Edward, and Norman.
Mrs. Golder has donated her body to Michigan State University for medical research. A memorial service will take place at St. Matthew Lutheran Church Sunday, July 11, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Leslie Nye officiating. Arrangements are being handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.
