Ruth Catherine Dery was born September 13, 1924 in Detroit to the late Charles and Mabel (Schoof) Dery. She graduated from Demby High in 1942 and worked for Blue Cross of Detroit as a supervisor for 5 years. She married Donald W. Ferris on May 17, 1947 in Detroit. He preceded her in death on November 21, 1993. After their marriage, she moved to Alpena where she raised her family and worked for the Alpena Public Schools until her retirement in 1985. She was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church. She loved her children and grandchildren and will be greatly missed.

Surviving are her son: Ronald (Julie), daughter; Patricia (Richard) Price; all of Alpena; 5 grandchildren: Jim Price, Ron Ferris Jr., Jennifer Downey, Tricia Hahn, Charlene Ferris; 7 great grandchildren: Timothy, Matthew, Keegan, Joshua, Evan, Lexie, Sophie; brother in law: Floyd Rivard of Detroit.

Mrs. Ferris was preceded in death by 2 brothers: James and Lawrence Dery and 1 sister: Delores Rivard.

Mrs. Ferris is at the Bannan Funeral Home where friends may call on Monday from 2 - 8 p.m. with a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Tuesday at St. Bernard Catholic Church from 11 a.m. until time of funeral service takes place at 12 noon with Rev. James Kendziorski officiating.
