Doris A. Cook, 83, of 5200 Werth Road, Alpena, passed away on January 6, 2010, at Evangelical Nursing Center in Sterling Heights.

Doris was born in Washington, D.C. on November 29, 1926 to the late Lionel and Mary (Norfolk) Godfrey. In 1944 she married Basil Cook in Maryland; Basil preceded her in death August 18, 2008. Mrs. Cook had been employed for 18 years as an office clerk in the trucking industry.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a volunteer at the church, commodities, and Salvation Army. Doris spent time enjoying gardening, reading, traveling, and cooking.
Surviving are 2 sons, Kenneth (Mary) of Alpena, Barry (RoseAnne) of Troy; 1 daughter, Linda Bekes of Sterling Heights; 6 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and 2 sisters, Mary Cornell of Alpena and Betty Jean (Al) Bunce of Maryland.
Preceding her in death was her sister, Jean Buddington.
Visitation will be held at the Bannan Funeral Home on Friday, April 23, from 2-8 p.m. and will continue Saturday, April 24, at First United Methodist Church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Eugene Bacon officiating.
