Gerald Dale Burnham, 84, of 223 S. Seventh, Alpena, went to his eternal reward on Thursday, April 15, 2010.
Mr. Burnham was born in Alpena on July 6, 1925 to the late Lloyd and Christina (Bruce) Burnham and was a lifelong resident of Alpena. He was graduated from Alpena High School in 1943. Gerald was a SSGT in the U.S. Air Force during WW II, serving in the China Offensive in Central Burma and discharged in 1946. On May 14, 1949 he married the former Kathleen Mills. Mr. Burnham worked as a licensed filter plant operator and for most of his life as a clerk and letter carrier for the U.S. Post Office in Alpena and Lachine, retiring in 1985. He was an avid sportsman and loved nature.
Mr. Burnham was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Kathleen; daughter, Susan (John) Lindquist of Plymouth; and 2 grandchildren, Jennifer of Flushing and Thomas of Chicago, Illinois.
Preceding him in death were 2 sisters, Kathleen and Betty; and a brother, Lloyd.
Mr. Burnham is at the Bannan Funeral Home where family and friends may call on Saturday from 2 -8 p.m. with a rosary recited at 6:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. James Kendziorski officiating.
