Jimmy Wayne Birmingham, 73, of 3114 U. S. 23 South, Alpena, passed away at Alpena Regional Medical Center on Sunday, April 25, 2010.

Jimmy was born in Becker, Mississippi on September 20, 1936 to the late Everett and Jeanette (Cramer) (Chrzan) Birmingham and married the former Nancy Wirgau on March 19, 1955. Mr. Birmingham was an instructor retiring from Alpena Community College in 2002.

He was a life member of NRA, a member of the Turkey Federation, and also helped organize the Babe Ruth baseball league.

Surviving are his wife, Nancy; 4 children, David and Vicki, Brad and Janine, Mark and Robin, Renee and John Ventimiglia all of Alpena; 8 grandchildren, Brent, Aaron, Sara, Casey, Zachary, Haley, Gina, Leah; 3 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Donna Wallace of Alpena; and 1 aunt, Verla Arnold of Mississippi.

Family and friends may call at the Bannan Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2-8 p.m. where the funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Greg McCallum officiating.

Interment: Evergreen Cemetery
