Laura Marie Benac, 96, of Alpena passed away Saturday, July 31, 2010 at Tendercare - Alpena.

Born in Tower on November 13, 1913 to the late Chauncy and Bessie (Abernathy) Oswalt and married Ernest Benac on September 26, 1931 in Onaway. He preceded her in death on August 16, 1976. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and a past member of the Eagles Auxiliary. Laura enjoyed going to Senior Citizens, the Caring Place, playing cards and being with her family and friends.

Surviving are two sons, Donald and his wife Joanne, Richard and his wife Karlene; 6 grandchildren; David Benac, Annette (Jeff) Trelfa, LuAnne Benac, Diane Rash, Deborah (Randy) Auerbach, Wayne Benac; 6 great grandchildren; Stefanie Minton, Cristina Benac, Travis Rash, Ashleigh Rash, Julianna Auerbach and Victoria Auerbach.

Mrs. Benac was preceded in death by a granddaughter in law Debra Benac, sister Mildred Enos and brother Robert Oswalt.

Mrs. Benac is at the Bannan Funeral Home where friends may call on Monday from 4-8 p.m. and where funeral service will take place on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Steve Hammond officiating.

Interment: Forest Lawn Cemetery
