Norman Arthur Bartz, 77, of 10991 Spruce Rd., Ossineke passed away Saturday January 9, 2010 at Alpena Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.

Mr. Bartz was born August 9, 1932 in Hubbard Lake to Daniel and Lydia (Minke) Bartz. He was a lifelong resident of the area. He married Jean Schultz on November 22, 1952 at Salem Lutheran Church, Hubbard Lake. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1952 - 1954. Norman was employed at Abitibi Corp. for 34 1/2 years until retiring in 1992. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and gardening. Mr. Bartz was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Hubbard Lake.

Surviving are his wife Jean; daughter Gail Schiellerd of Gaylord; son Curtis and wife Teresa Bartz of Harbor Springs; six grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; two brothers Marvin and wife Sally Bartz of Venice, Florida, Donald Bartz of Hubbard Lake; many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may call at the Hope Lutheran Church on Monday from 2-8 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. with Rev. Herbert Kitzman officiating. Arrangements are being handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.
