Ervin Ewald Bartz, 71, of Bullock, North Carolina and formerly of Hubbard Lake, passed away at Granville Medical Center, Oxford, North Carolina as a result of an automotive accident on Monday, March 8, 2010.

Ervin was born in Alpena County on May 12, 1938 to the late Albert and Lena H. (Schultz) Bartz. He had served in the U.S. Air Force for 9 years and was employed with IBM as a technical specialist for 35 years, retiring in 2000. Ervin spent his free time enjoying fishing.
He is survived by 3 children, Diane Bartz and Ken Hilton of North Carolina, David and Joyce Bartz of North Carolina, Carl and Pat Bartz of Georgia; 2 grandchildren, Benjamin, Thaddeus; 3 sisters, Doris Olson of Alpena, Ruth Thiem of Alpena, Grace and Thomas Lumsden of Lachine; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death was his brother, Alfred, in 2005.
Visitation for Mr. Bartz will be held at the Bannan Funeral Home on Friday from 2:00 until an 8:00 p.m. prayer service and will continue Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hubbard Lake from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Robert Mikkelson officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be give to St. Paul Lutheran Church - Hubbard Lake and The Salvation Army.
