Staff Sergeant Cody Richard Anderson, 25, of Fort Drum, NY and formerly of Lachine, passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2010.

Born on December 11, 1984 to Marshall and Lori (Schultz) Anderson. Cody graduated from Alpena High School Class of 2003, went to NMU playing on their football team before enlisting in the United States Army in October of 2004. He served with the 101 Airborne in Iraq, and a second tour of duty in Afghanistan with the 10th Mountain Division, receiving a purple heart. He enjoyed football, music, Detroit Tigers Baseball and Detroit Red Wings Hockey.

Surviving are his parents: Marshall and Lori of Beecher, IL, brother: Kyle and wife Mary of Las Vegas, NV; sister Brandi of Quincy, CA; grandfather: Richard Schultz of Alpena; grandmothers: Margie Buck of Alpena, Shirley Johnson of Germfask; fiancee Stefanie Strausser of Memphis, TN several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Cody is at the Bannan Funeral Home where friends may call on Wednesday from 2-8 p.m. and where a full military funeral service will take place on Thursday at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers memorials maybe made to the Alpena High School.
