Jeanette E. Baumgart, 83, of Alpena passed away on Tuesday, July 4, 2017, at her home.

Jeanette Russell was born on her grandparents’ farm in Munger, Michigan to the late Glen & Nora Russel on April 4, 1934. She was delivered into this world by her grandmother, Catherine. She attended school in a one-room school house and then graduated from Pinconning High School in 1951. Jeanette graduated from Bay City Business College and worked at Consumers Power. She moved to Alpena and married Rudolph Baumgart, Jr. on September 18, 1954. She later divorced and raised her six children.

Jeanette retired from Alpena Senior Citizens Center in 1996. She was member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, serving as a sacristan for many years and was active in many different service groups throughout her life. Jeanette was a proud member of the American Legion Auxiliary and was the president for many years. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, and bingo.

Surviving are her six children, Paul (Gail) Baumgart, Judy Vandervort, Greg Baumgart, David Baumgart, Glen (Becky) Baumgart, JanMarie (Joel) Kendzorski; grandchildren, Terry Hughes, Skye (Paul) Skiba, Shawn (Andrea) Baumgart, Timothy Baumgart, Shannon (Zach Hoeft) Baumgart, Heather (Andrew Markowski) Baumgart, Joshua Baumgart, Holden Baumgart, Jeremy (April) Kendzorski, Jennifer (Andrew) Roznowski, Jasmine (Nathan) Mousseau, James (Brooke) Kendzorski; 20 great grandchildren, Zachary, Issac, Hailey, Nevaeh, Klypso, Matthew, Mya, Trinity, William, Trenton, Isabella, Alice, Aiden, Kameron, Casey, Morgan, Jarrett, Kimber, Jace, Kelsea; brother, John (Barbara) Russell; sister, Myra Sargent; brother-in-law, Charlie Cooper; sisters-in-law, June Russell, Marion Russell; several nieces and nephews.

Jeanette was preceded in death by her ex-husband, Rudolph; sisters, Mae (Pete) Stepaniak, Lynn Cooper; brothers, Glenn Russell, Gordon Russell; and brother-in-law, William Sargent.

Visitation will take place at the Bannan Funeral Home on Friday from 2 – 8 p.m. with an American Legion service at 6:30 p.m. followed by a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue Saturday at St. Bernard Church of All Saints Parish from 10 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. with Rev. Polycarp Mblarawa officiating.
