Alan Sabourin LaCross

April 22, 1947 ~ June 25, 2017 (age 70)

Alan Sabourin LaCross was born in Mt. Clemens, MI on April 22, 1947, as Alan R. Cebelak. In 1954 Alan, and his brother Lawrence (Larry)were adopted into the family of Louis and Lillian (LaCross) Sabourin. He was welcomed by his brother, Paul, and sister Cathy, who survive, as well as sisters-in-law Mary Pat Sabourin, and Felicia Sabourin (Florida), and several nieces and nephews.

Alan was a 1965 graduate of Catholic Central High School. He served on a security team for several persons in California and other communities along the west coast as well as offering private body-guard service - more notably to one California State Senator as a Presidential Candidate. Alan held a 4th degree Black Belt. He returned to Alpena and opened LaCross Martial Arts where he taught many students, both young and old, the arts of Karate and Tai Chi.

Alan played in several bands from the time he was in high school. He was an accomplished Saxophone player and drummer.

Alan’s lengthy and courageous battle with cancer ended on June 25th, 2017 when he entered his eternal reward. A memorial service to commemorate Alan’s life will be held at the pavilion at Starlite Beach on Monday Aug. 14, 2017 from 4pm until 7pm. Alan loved to do his Tai Chi early in the morning near the water. A sharing of memories and some musical tributes by relatives will occur from about 5:30 to a conclusion at 7pm.

Alan was preceded in death by his brother Larry and his adoptive parents, Louis and Lillian Sabourin.
