James Dale McHarg, of Alpena, died December 16, 2007 at Tendercare Nursing Facility after an extended illness.

Born December 20, 1922 , he married Millie (Sis) Cripps on August 19, 1949 .  He was preceded in death by his loving wife, in 1999. He is survived by his three children, Rory of Alpena, Shari of Jackson, and Gena of Gaylord.  He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, Melissa, Caden, Landen, Dana, TJ, Kara, Kristen and Eric and 4 great-grandchildren, Cameron, Brett, Jenna and Trevor.  He also has 4 nephews and 5 nieces.  Family members who also preceded him in death are his parents, Arthur and Anna McHarg, two brothers, Glenn and Arlington, and one sister, Thelma.

Jim retired from Huron Portland Cement in 1985 where he had worked since 1956 as a fireman on the cement freighter, S.T. Crapo.

Visitation will be Tuesday, December 18th from 2-8 p.m. at Bannan Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be on Wednesday, December 19^th at 2 p.m. at Bannan Funeral Home with Rev. Luke Bedtelyon officiating.  Interment will be in the McHarg Family plot at Wilson Township Cemetery .

The family request that in lieu of flowers, memorials be sent to Tendercare – Alpena or Hospice of Michigan – Alpena Branch.  The family would also like to thank both organizations for making Jim’s last few years as enjoyable as possible.
