Robert Gerald Lutze U.S. Navy, Retired, 76, of 411 Beech Street, Hillman, passed away December 27, 2007 at Hurley Hospital in Flint.

Born in Forrest Twp., Michigan on January 22, 1931 to the late Frank and Alice (Hayes) Lutze. On February 24, 1951 he married the former Eleanor Maxine Tripp in Hillman. Mr. Lutze served in the U. S. Navy with tours in Korea and Vietnam. Retiring after 31 years, he served as a senior military diver, senior E.O.D. tech, and the last certified hardhat diver. He retired with the rank of CW04 in 1978 and moved back to the Hillman area.
Mr. Lutze was a member of the Hillman United Methodist Church, Hillman Area Lions Club and Past District Governor 11 E2, Montmorency County E.D.C., D.A.V., American Legion, and Boy Scout leader and commissioner.
Surviving are his wife, Eleanor; 1 daughter, Shanna (Marvin) Johnson of Hillman; 1 son, Steven (Nancie) of Texas; 4 grandchildren: Justin, Travis, Cody, and Tanner; 1 brother, Jeffery of Otisville; 3 sisters: Betty (Charles) White of Mt. Morris, Barbara (Varian) Traver of Otisville, and Karen Tegethoff of South Dakota.
Preceding him in death were two brothers: Jack and Ronald.
Visitation for Mr. Lutze will take place Sunday from 3-9 p.m. at the Hillman United Methodist Church and will continue Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jack Johnston officiating. Military honors will be accorded him under the auspices of the Hillman VFW
