Darrell R. Lancewicz, 78, of 4197 Long Lake Road, Alpena, passed away at Alpena Regional Medical Center on Sunday, December 23, 2007.

Born on June 2, 1929 in Cheboygan to the late John and Violet (Gouine) Lancewicz.

On October 22, 1949 he married the former Virginia May Sylvester, and she preceded him in death on June 27, 2006. Virginia and Darrell owned Lancewicz Refuse and Trucking Company for over 60 years.

Mr. Lancewicz was a member of the Free Methodist Church

Surviving are 2 sons: John (Geneva) of Texas, Mark (Pam) of Alpena; 2 daughters: Linda Krentz of Herron, Karen Lancewicz of Alpena; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 5 brothers: John Lancewicz, Ronald (Inge) Lancewicz, Joseph (Ruth) Lancewicz, Richard (Diane) Szymanski all of Alpena, Gary (Carlene) Lancewicz of Traverse City; 3 sisters: Kay (Don) Hinman of Indian River, Anna (Jim) McMillan of Grayling, and Sally (Jerry) Jensen of Sandusky.

Preceding him in death were three children: Dorothy "Sue" Lancewicz, Darrell Lancewicz Jr., and Timothy Lancewicz.

Mr. Lancewicz is at the Bannan Funeral Home where friends may call on Thursday from 2-8 p.m. and where the funeral will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Luke Bedtelyon officiating.

Interment: Evergreen Cemetery
