Louis Alfred Behning, 85, of 13211 Behning Road, Ossineke, passed away at Alpena Regional Medical Center on Wednesday, June 20, 2012.

Louis was born in Alpena County on January 12, 1927 to the late Alfred and Margaret L. (Pernie) Behning, and on June 15, 1946 he married the former Shirley Socia.  Mr. Behning was employed as a bus driver for the Alpena Public Schools for 46 years, retiring in 1989.

He was an active member of Hope Lutheran Church.  Louis enjoyed the hunting camp, working in the woods, and bowling.

Surviving are his wife, Shirley; 2 sons, Lew (Brenda) Behning of Munising, William (Kathy) Behning of Alpena; 8 grandchildren, Bryan (Jennie) Behning, Erica Behning, Christina (Paul) Larsen, Michael Barney, Stephanie Berstein, Brandon Behning, Shane (Phanie) Behning, Lee Alexander; 10 great-grandchildren; and 1 sister, Mildred Hartman of Southfield.

Mr. Behning was preceded in death by a sister, Marilyn Crevier and a brother, Wayne Behning.

Visitation for Mr. Behning will be held at Hope Lutheran Church on Friday from 4-8 p.m. and will continue Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Herbert Kitzman officiating.  Arrangements are being handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.
