Elmer E. Krentz, 72, of 9720 Beaver Lake Road, Hubbard Lake passed away suddenly of an apparent heart attack on Sunday, June 3, 2012 at Alpena Regional Medical Center.

Elmer was born in Alpena on February 16, 1940 to Reinhold and Viola (Siegert) Krentz.  On May 12, 1962 he married the former Donnalee R. Moggie.  He worked as a truck driver for many years and also engaged in farming.  Elmer was a member of Hope Lutheran Church and its usher club.  Along with his wife of 50 years, he enjoyed Polka Dancing, going camping and playing cards.  Elmer loved spending time with his grandchildren, going to hunting camp and working on his wooden crafts.

Surviving are his wife, Donnalee; three sons, Gary and wife Donna, Terry and wife Gayle, Mark and wife Debbie; four grandchildren, Courtney, Justin, Graham and wife Amanda, Jessica; his mother, Viola; three sisters, Lillian Jacobs, Alice and husband Arnold Gries, Mable and husband William Domke; a brother, Kenneth and wife Adeline; several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Krentz was preceded in death by his father, Reinhold and a brother in law, Maynard Jacobs.

Visitation for Mr. Krentz will take place at Hope Lutheran Church – Hubbard Lake on Wednesday, June 6, 2012 from 2 to 8 p.m. and on Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. with Rev. Scott Meier officiating.  Arrangements are being handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.
