Matthew Robert Smart

March 10, 1976 - July 8, 2012

Matthew Robert Smart, 36, of Jackson and formerly of Alpena, passed away in Jackson on Sunday, July 8, 2012.

Matthew was born March 10, 1976 in Alpena to Robert and Carol (Kline) Smart.  He was a 1996 graduate of Alpena High School and the Concrete Tech program at Alpena Community College.  Presently, Matthew was employed with the State of Michigan as a technician.

He was a member of the National Rifle Association, an avid hunter, and enjoyed spending time at camp.

Surviving are his parents, Robert and Carol; 1 sister, Stacie (Christian) Nielsen; aunts and uncles, Cathy (Howard) Hays-Carpenter, Daniel (Grace Ann) Kline, Cheryl (David) Bauer, Fred (Maria) Kline, Tom Kline, Sandy (Nelson) Cordes, Carol (Michael) Pertrach, Susan Smart; and numerous cousins and friends.

Preceding him in death were his grandparents, Wallace and Marjorie Smart, Edwin and Regina Kline; and uncle, Bill Hays.

Visitation will be held at the Bannan Funeral Home on Thursday from 2-8 p.m. and where the funeral service will take place Friday at 11:00 a.m. with Sister Mary Hughes officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Huron Humane Society.

Interment:  Holy Cross Cemetery
