Ralph Darryl McConnell

September 8, 1933 - July 3, 2012

Ralph Darryl McConnell, 78, of 1779 Long Rapids Road, Alpena passed away Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at his home surrounded by his family.

Ralph was born on September 8, 1933 in Alpena to the late Orrin and Fern (Rosbeck) McConnell.  He served in the United States Air Force and on December 20, 1952 he married the former Jeannine M. Meyers.  Ralph worked at Alpena Power Company for nearly 42 years retiring as a line foreman in 1993.  He was a member of First Church of God, enjoyed going to camp, hunting, fishing and camping.  Ralph’s true enjoyment was spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jeannine; 7 children, Daryln and Ross Timm, Darnell and Lorie McConnell, Darla and Larry Woodkowski, Darcie McConnell, Darwin and Cori McConnell, Orrin and Margie McConnell, Darbie and Mike Ross; 19 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 1 brother, Orrin and Ruth McConnell; 2 sisters, Shirlaine Repke and Janet and Roy Bernson.

Mr. McConnell was preceded in death by an infant daughter Kimberly Ann.

Mr. McConnell is at the Bannan Funeral Home where friends may call on Friday from 2-8 p.m.  Visitation will continue on Saturday at First Church of God from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. with Rev. Cathleen Sprowl officiating.
