Marcella (Writz) Reilly of 1032 Pohl Road, Alpena, passed away at the age of 80 at Alpena Regional Medical Center on Thursday, May 3, 2012.
Marcella was born on September 21, 1931 to the late Thomas and Helen (Stencil) Writz in Athens, Wisconsin. She married Paul Reilly on January 17, 1953 at St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Milwaukee. Paul preceded her in death on August 31, 1997. They moved to Alpena in 1958 and made this their home. Marcella was employed her whole married life in retail and office work, and the last 13 years of work was a bookkeeper at the Alpena Moose Lodge #571 when she retired in August of 2002 at the age of 71.
She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, life member of VFW Auxiliary #2496, and a charter member of Women of the Moose #1994.
Surviving are 2 daughters, Jamie (Randy) Boboltz, Penny (Jim) Boldrey of Alpena; 1 son, Michael Reilly of New Orleans, Louisiana; 6 grandchildren, Nicholas Bartosh of Alpena, Ashley (Kevin) Wing of Novi, Amanda Boboltz of Ried, Austria, Alisa Boboltz of Portland, OR, Angela Bartosh of Novi, Tyler Bartosh of Alpena; 2 great grandsons, Brady Wing, Alexander Wing; 1 brother, George (Laurene) Writz of Wausau, Wisconsin; 1 niece, Sharon (Jim) West of Wausau; 3 nephews, Gerald Writz of Marathon, Wisconsin, Joe (Dory) Writz, Thomas (Pat) Writz of Weston, Wisconsin; and many cousins. She is also survived by Joyce and Chuck Stolpa, Verna and Don Borkenhagen, Dorothy Poulos, Martha and Glenn Lake, and Janet and Norbert Lake; whom have been very special to her.
Marcella was preceded in death by her son, Alan; 4 brothers; and 2 sisters.
Family and friends may call at the Bannan Funeral Home on Sunday from 2-8 p.m. with a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue Monday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass of Celebration at 11 a.m. with Rev. Greg McCallum officiating.
