Hasse Myra

Myra Hasse, 93, of Alpena, passed away at Tendercare/Greenview on Wednesday, January 11, 2012.

Myra was born on April 1, 1918 in Alpena to the late Herman and Martha (Schmoldt) Kowalsky.  On June 26, 1937 she married Arthur Hasse in Alpena.  Arthur preceded her in death on February 3, 2006.

Mrs. Hasse was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.  She was active in the Junior Mission Band, taught Sunday school for 15 years, and for 30 years was involved, and later became the leader of, “Operation Blanket” mission outreach.

Surviving are a daughter, Julie (Mark) Holmberg of Kansas; 3 grandchildren, Sara Holmberg, Paul (Michelle) Holmberg, Jon (Jenny) Holmberg; 5 great-grandchildren, Lucas, Noah, Skyler, Mara, Liljana; 1 sister, Laurine Weide; and 3 brothers, Arthur (Gladys) Kowalski, Robert Kowalski, Leonard Kowalsky; and sister-in-law, Bernice Kowalski.

She was a devoted grandmother, actively involved in her grandchildren’s athletic and musical activities, often traveling to Kansas to attend their performances.

Preceding Myra in death were 2 brothers, Clarence and Irvin.

Memorial visitation will take place Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at St. Paul Lutheran Church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Tom Orth officiating. Arrangements are being handled by the Bannan Funeral Home

Following the service, interment will take place at Wilson Twp. Cemetery.
