Kearly Kenneth Newton
Kenneth Newton Kearly, 90, of 2887 Third Avenue, Alpena, passed away at Turning Brook Retirement Community on Friday, April 20, 2012.
Kenneth was born in Spratt, Michigan on March 9, 1922 to the late Charles and Marie (VanSipe) Kearly. He served in the U. S. Army 10th American Division, during World War II and the Battle of the Bulge, and was awarded a Bronze Star for valor. On May 29, 1943 he married Dora Jane Green in Phenix City, Alabama. She preceded him in death November 25, 1996. Mr. Kearly had been employed with Alpena Wholesale Grocers until his retirement in 1983.
Mr. Kearly was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ and the Alpena Lions Club. He enjoyed spending time at the hunting camp.
Surviving are 2 daughters, Kendra Kearly, Nancy Kearly; 1 son, Charles and Kay Kearly; 3 grandchildren, Brandt and Brenda, Amy and Scott Minton, Kelli and Adam Sheehan; 3 great-grandchildren, Jayden, Tyler, Alyson; 1 brother, Ted and Helen; and a sister-in-law, Murriel Kearly.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Donald.
Burial was at Evergreen Cemetery. Arrangements handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.
