The angels took Victor I. Hoppe, 85, of 2290 Grant Street, Alpena, home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 20, 2008, while he was surrounded by his loved ones.

Born in Maple Ridge Twp. on September 1, 1922 to the late Thomas and Agnes (Piontkowski) Hoppe, and on July 3, 1948 he married the former Marjorie Jean Kinsinger at St. Mary Catholic Church with Fr. Heramski officiating.
Mr. Hoppe was employed by Alcona Motors, Inc. as a salesman for 30 years, and reached the status of Legion of Leaders in auto sales.
He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, K of C 4th degree and lifetime member, and the Alpena Eagles.
His favorite place was his cottage at Grand Lake where he found solace and where some of his fondest memories were created.
Surviving are his loving wife, Marge of 59 years; 2 daughters, Vicki (Bob) Carlson of Illinois; Linda (John) Snyder of Alpena; 4 grandchildren, Corinne (Steve) Moberley of Illinois, Christopher Carlson of Illinois, John Snyder III and Katie of Traverse City; Jessica (Joshua) Ross of Japan; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death was his sister, Lucille Woloszyk.
Mr. Hoppe is at the Bannan Funeral Home where family and friends may call on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. with a parish prayer and K of C service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue Wednesday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church from 12 noon until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Patrick Maher officiating.
