Eugene “Beaver” T. Hatch, 78, of Alpena passed away at his home on Friday, October 26, 2007 surrounded by his family.

Born in Alpena on March 31, 1929 to the late Edwin and Sadie (Ceglarek), he married Elaine Hansen on July 9, 1949 at Grace Lutheran Church.
As a lifetime resident of Alpena, Beaver enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, and gardening. Beaver served as an M.P. in the Air Force before being employed by Alpena Power Co. for 41 years, retiring in 1991. He served as treasurer for Boy Scout Troop 92 for 13 years and was president of The Stump hunting club and also an active member of Grace Lutheran Church.
Surviving are his wife, Elaine; five children, Susan and her husband, Dominic Visel of Pinckney, Kenneth and his wife, Linda of Herron, Nancy and her husband, Kenneth Amelotte of Lachine, Connie and her husband, Wade McElhanon of Herron and Joanne and her husband, Kenneth Coughlin of Kalkaska; 10 grandchildren, Amy (Hatch) Matuzak, Chris Hatch, Michele (Amelotte) Shanafelt, Jessica (Amelotte) Konarzewski, Stephanie (Hatch) O’Neal, Jamie Hatch, Haley Nichols, Preston McElhanon, Raena Coughlin and Emily Coughlin; 17 great grandchildren, and one brother, Richard Hatch and his wife Donna.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Edwin Hatch.
Mr. Hatch is at Bannan Funeral Home where friends may call on Monday, October 29, 2007 from 2:00 P.M. 8:00 P.M. Visitation will continue Tuesday at Grace Lutheran Church from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at 11:00 A.M.
Interment: Grace Lutheran Church Cemetery
Military Graveside Honors will be provided by Alpena V.F.W. Post 2469.
