Anna M. Gabara, 76, of 1760 Long Rapids Road, Alpena, passed away on Tuesday, November 20, 2007, at Tendercare of Alpena.

 

Born in Alpena on September 16, 1931 to Isadore and Pearl (Tylenda) Suszek, she married Merton Gabara on July 26, 1949 in Snover, Michigan.  He preceded her in death on March 22, 1987.  Mrs. Gabara enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and the staff at Tendercare.  She enjoyed the casino, playing bingo, and having her beloved pet, Buddy, visit her.

Surviving are 3 daughters, Carol Ann of Alpena, Beverly and Robert Ilsley of Alpena, Hazel Bays and friend Dallas Adkins of Harrison; 3 sons, Merton and Cindy of Alpena, Rick of Trenton, Kim and Kathy of Cadillac; 15 grandchildren, James, Amy, Nicholas, Crystal, Jennifer, Michelle, Kristy, Ashley, Tyler, Anna, Becky, Samantha, Tabatha, Natasha, and Chandler; 7 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Mike of Georgia; 7 sisters, Jeannette and David Frary of Alpena, Carol and Jim Huston of Georgia, Shirley Riggs of Plymouth, Gloria and William Neumann of Alpena, Betty and Emil Newhouse of Alpena, Sondra Keen of Grand Rapids, and Florence Schliska of Alpena.

Preceding her in death were  3 brothers, Lloyd, Isadore Suszek Jr., and Clarence.

Mrs. Gabara is at the Bannan Funeral Home where friends may call on Friday from 2-8 p.m.   and where the funeral service will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Leslie Nye officiating.
