Clarence J. Ewing, 91, of 315 Beebe Street, Alpena, passed away at home on Wednesday, October 10, 2007.
Mr. Ewing was born in Alpena on January 13, 1916 to the late Jack and Matilda (Prieur) Ewing and served in the Merchant Marines. On August 10, 1937 he married Evelyn F. LaGary, and she preceded him in death on April 6, 1994. Mr. Ewing had been employed as a supervisor at Huron Portland Cement Company until his retirement in 1976.
He was a past Alpena Twp. Fire Chief, a member of the Michigan Fiddlers Association and enjoyed country western jamborees.
Surviving are his daughter, Nora Ewing of Holland; 5 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Bob (Gladys) Ewing.
Preceding him in death were his son, Roy Lee; daughter, Judith Ann; 2 brothers: Thomas and Lloyd, and a sister, Ruth Wodkowski.
Mr. Ewing is at the Bannan Funeral Home where friends may call on Friday from 6-9 p.m. and where funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
