James John Dewar, 79, of 6011 Wolf Creek Rd., Herron passed away Tuesday August 19, 2008 at Alpena Regional Medical Center.

Born in Oscoda on August 21, 1928 to the late Hector and Neva (Nevin) Dewar and married Ruth Bates on November 30, 1957. Mr. Dewar worked as a mechanic and truck driver for many years before retiring in 1988.

James was a member of Spratt United Methodist Church and the Alpena Antique Tractor and Steam Engine Club and always enjoyed a good card party.

Surviving are his wife Ruth, 2 sons: Raymond and wife Wanda of Alpena. Russell and wife Dianne of Warren, 6 grandchildren: Constitine, Zachary, Joshua, Randy, Rebecca, Rafe; 2 great grandchildren Mykenize, Adam; 2 sisters Florence Ford and Lena and husband James Jobin both of Mt. Morris.

Mr. Dewar was preceded in death by one son Steven in 1975, 3 brothers Glen, Allen and Wesley.

Mr. Dewar is at the Bannan Funeral Home on Thursday from 2-8 p.m. and where funeral service will take place on Friday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Tedd Galloway officiating.

Interment: King Settlement Cemetery
