Allen Roy Christian, 76, of 7587 Indian Reserve Rd., Alpena passed away Sunday November 4, 2007 at Alpena Regional Medical Center surrounded by his entire family.

Born August 9, 1931 to John Joseph and Sarah Christine (Hartman) Christian in Alpena and married Joy Alexander on August 6,1955.  Mr. Christian served in the US Army from 1949 to 1952 during the Korean Conflict.  He sailed the Great Lakes and in 1953 he was hired at Huron Portland Cement Co. until his retirement after 31 years in 1985.  Al and his wife Joy raised strawberries for 34 years before retiring in 2003.  He enjoyed traveling, golfing and model airplanes.  Allen was a member of First United Methodist Church, Alpena Elks and the Moose Lodge, past chairman of Alpena Soil Conservation District.

Surviving are his wife Joy, 3 children Rodney and wife Patricia, Linda and husband Barry Rondeau, Michael and wife Vicki; 10 grandchildren Darren (Erin), Jennifer, Sheree, Nolan, Cassie, Luke, Amanda, Lee, BreAnne, Christina; 2 great grandchildren Avarie, Alexandra; 2 sisters Dorothy Luxon of Atlanta; Verina Stevens of Spruce; Donald of Kentucky.

Mr. Christian was preceded in death by 2 infant sons; Gordon in 1959 and Eric in 1967, 1 brother Arthur.

Mr. Christian has been taken for cremation.  Family and friends may gather at the Bannan Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. until time of memorial service at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Eugene Bacon officiating.  Full military honors will be accorded him by VFW Alpena Post 2496 at the funeral home.
