Cheryl S. Carpenter, 59, of 314 Fair Avenue, Alpena, passed away at Alpena Regional Medical Center on Friday, April 25, 2008.

Cheri was born in Tawas City on August 24, 1948 to Irwin and Wilma (Rehkemper) Ruppert, and married Howard Carpenter on October 19, 1966.  She had been a daycare provider, sharing her love for 100's of Alpena children for over 40 years.

Cheri was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church and Aid by the Dozen.  Her kindness, generosity, and optimistic outlook were present in her care of family and friends.  She enjoyed gardening, flowers, and antiquing.

Surviving are her husband, Howard; 2 children, Stacey and Pete Cross of Alpena, Matthew and Cynthia of Pickford; 4 grandsons, Mason, Clay, Isaac Cross, Kolby Carpenter;  her mother, Wilma Ruppert of Tawas City; 1 sister, Jeri Lu and Don Espersen of St. Paul, Minnesota; and 2 nieces, Alexandra and Caitlyn.

Preceding her in death was her father, Irwin.

Family and friends may call on Monday at Bannan Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 7:00 p.m. with Fr. Greg McCallum officiating.

Memorials:  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Cheri's memory to the Day One Program thru District Health Dept. # 4.
