Emerson Lee Burzlaff, 87, of 3130 Piper Road, Alpena, passed away Monday, January 28, 2008, at Tendercare Greenview.

Born in Alpena on September 14, 1920 to the late George and Leontine (Lawitzke) Burzlaff. He married the former Betty Werth on June 18, 1955. She preceded him in death on March 25, 1970. Mr. Burzlaff served in the U. S. Navy during WW II and had been been employed at Huron Portland Cement Company from 1946-1988.
He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, LeRoy Hunting Club for 50 years, P. K. Fletcher Gun Club, and V.F.W. Post #2496.
Surviving are his daughter, Cheryl (Donald) Parkham; 1 son, George and Tammy; 4 grandchildren, Kristy and Jonathan Bailey, Courtney Parkham and fiancé Norman Schultz, Hunter Emerson Burzlaff; Ryan Gray; 1 great-granddaughter, Josalyn Bailey; and 1 sister, Alice Chabot.
Preceding him in death were 2 brothers, Hugo and Walter Burzlaff; 3 sisters, Naomi Bernson, Gertrude LaPine, and Esther Stein.
Friends may call Wednesday at the Bannan Funeral Home from noon until the time of the memorial service at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Paul Owens officiating.
