Phillip George Brown was born September 13, 1937 in Alpena and resided at 2684 Lake Winyah Road. He lived with his parents, Jackson and Grace Brown, who preceded him in death as well as his sister, Margaret Hannan; brother, Calvin Jackson Brown; and nephews, Michael and Allen Hannan and Phillip T. Adams Jr. Phillip died December 10, 2008 in his sleep fighting his battle with cancer.
Phillip was a 20-year National Guardsman, and he was a plumber and master pipe fitter who loved hunting and fishing on the Great Lakes for salmon, lake trout, and traveling to Canada with his father and brothers to hunt and fish. He was known for his humor and his colorful temper. He was a man of little words but when he spoke he made his points clear. He helped build wooden canoes with his father and sister Janet who also taught him how to cook.
Surviving are one sister, Janet Craner (Louis) of Alpena; one brother, Joel Brown (Pattie) of Colorado; sister-in-law, Rose Brown of Alpena (wife of Calvin Brown), as well as numerous cousins, nephews, nieces and second and third generation of nephews and nieces. He will be missed greatly but we will be looking forward to seeing him in the resurrection.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Bannan Funeral Home.
