Betty Lou Brown, 86, of 406 S. Church Street, Lincoln, passed away at Lincoln Haven Nursing and Rehabilitation Community on Sunday, October 19, 2008.

Born in Flynn Valley, Michigan on June 20, 1922 to Lyman and Lucy (Shane) Lince. Betty attended Alpena High School, graduating in 1939 and was the first female to letter in track. In 1939 she married Marshall Briley, later married Ruben Bruning in 1985; he passed away in 1986. On June 18, 1988 she married Norman L. Brown in Alpena, and he preceded her in death on March 24, 2001. Betty owned and operated the Briley Adult Care Home in Spruce for many years.

She was an active member of St. Catherine Catholic Church and Alpena Senior Citizens.

Surviving are four sons, Dr. Philip and Connie Briley of Maryland, Steven and Terrie Briley of Colorado, Randy and Charlotte Briley of Texas, Master Sgt. Rick and Diane Briley of North Carolina; two daughters, Rose and Mitch Mitchell of Ann Arbor, Jane and Sam Unkovich of Barton City; 17 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were an infant son, Michael; 10 brothers and sisters, Laura, Lily, Alex, Philip, Gilbert, Marcus, Lena, Isabel, Jeanette, and Martin.

Family and friends may call at the Bannan Funeral Home on Thursday from 2-8 p.m. Funeral services will be Friday at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. James Kendziorski officiating.

Interment: Flynn Valley Cemetery, Curran, MI

Memorials may be made to the family of Betty.
