Gertrude E. Brillhart, 89, of 8042 Wolf Creek Road, Herron, passed away at Alpena Regional Medical Center on Thursday, August 30, 2007.

Born Gertrude E. Vendt in Germany on June 16, 1918 to the late Albert and Ottilie (Hammermister) Vendt.  On July 7, 1936 she married James H. Jacobs; later, in 1969, she married Lorin Brillhart in Atlanta, Michigan and he preceded her in death in 1979.  Mrs. Brillhart had been employed in the restaurant business until retiring in 1975.

She was a member of First Church of God.

Surviving are 2 daughters, Marie (Mrs. Erling) Sylvester of Herron, Mary of Florida,1 son Rodney and Lenora of Alpena,10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her son, Edward, and two brothers, Albert, Jr. and Fredrick.

A memorial service will be held Friday, October 19, 11:00 a.m. at First Church of God with Rev. Chan Roach officiating.  Arrangements are being handled by Bannan Funeral Home
