Helene F. Borchert, 85, of Alpena, passed away Sunday, August 31, 2008, at Sally’s Care Home.

Born in Schwarzwaldau, Keis Lundeshut, Germany, on June 15, 1923 to Gustav and Emilie (Glatter) Zemanek; Helene married Fred Friedrich Adolf Borchert on September 4, 1948 in Germany. Her husband preceded her in death on June 25, 1996.

She is survived by three sons, Rainer and wife Gale of Munith, Peter and wife Mamie of Lake Ann, John of Elmira; former daughter-in-law Pam; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one sister, Edith Niedernhuber of Germany.

Mrs. Borchert was preceded in death by one brother, Rudolf, and one sister, Hedel.

Cremation arrangements have been made by Bannan Funeral Home. A graveside service will take place in Lewiston at Albert Township Cemetery on Saturday, September 20, 2008, at 11:00 a.m.

Memorials may be given to Hospice of the Sunrise Shore or the Alzheimer’s Association of Alpena.
