Bernice (Bea) Barrett, 89, of Alpena, passed away peacefully Sunday December 16, 2007 at Tendercare/Greenview with her loving daughters at her side.

She was born in Alpena on July 14, 1918 to the late Napoleon and Melina (Baker) LaBarge. On August 17, 1946 she married Patrick Barrett at St. Mark Catholic Church in Zilwaukee. He preceded her in death on December 27, 1975. Bea was a caregiver to her six brothers and sisters, and later to her dear in-laws and other relations. She was employed by the Vaughn Company, The Grace Howe Shop for 17 years retiring at the age of 72. She was a member of St. Bernard's Altar Society and St. Anne's Sodality.
Surviving are three daughters, Ellen (Jeff) Prince of Royal Oak, Beth (Tim) Curtis of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, and Jane Schefke of Alpena, daughter in law Tammy Barrett; six grandchildren: Peter Prince, Mary Ellen Elias, Nicholas and John Schefke and Katherine and Patrick Barrett; one sister, Dorothy St. Charles of Brighton.
Preceding her in death were two sons: James and infant Robert; son in law Terry Schefke; three brothers Robert, Richard and James; two sister Therese and Phyllis.
Visitation will be held at Bannan Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2-8 p.m., with a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Funeral service will take place on Wednesday at St. Anne Catholic Church at 11 a.m. with Rev. Daniel Madigan officiating.
Interment: Holy Cross Cemetery
