Mary Irene Anderson, age 89, of Alpena, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 31, 2007, in the arms of her daughter at ARMC.

Born June 20, 1918 to the late George and Nellie (Borton) Dinsmore, she married Clarence "Andy" Anderson on May 9, 1936. Mary retired from Alpena General Hospital in 1978. After they retired, she and Andy spent their winters in New Port Richey, Florida where they were active in numerous community and charity events.
In later life her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and visiting with her many close and lifelong friends. She loved reading, playing cards, and Tiger baseball.
She is survived by her daughter, Cher (Robert Race) Allen; her grandsons, Jason (Maryann) Allen, Chad (Rina) Allen, Jacob (Colleen) Allen, step-grandson, Kurt (April) Race; four great-grandchildren, Niki Allen, Lauren Allen, Zackary Race and Sydney Race. Also, she leaves behind her very special friend, Elwood Monette.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Andy, in 1999; her daughter, Bonnie Lou, in 1949; three brothers, George, Clifford and Floyd Dinsmore, and two sisters, Lillian Ernst and Ruth Wojda.
Visitation will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church from 9:30 - 10:45 a.m. on Monday, November 5, followed by a Memorial Eucharist at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Bruce Michaud officiating. Arrangements are being handled by Bannan Funeral Home.
