Jean Kathleen Elowsky, 95, died on Saturday, April 18, at Hillman Haven.

Jean was born October 23, 1913 to Walter and Minnie (McKellar) Klein in Rust Township. In 1931 she married Earl A. Elowsky. She and her husband owned and operated Hillman Light and Power Company and the Hillman Water Works. Jean worked for a time at Wurzburg's in Grand Rapids, MI; she then worked at Vaughn's in Alpena for many years.

Mrs. Elowsky was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Royston, LWML, and the Hillman Civic Club.

She is survived by her sons, Earl W. (Edna Koenig) and Lowell (Jean Huhtsaari); daughters, Jeannine (John) O'Farrell of Sanibel, Florida, Hope (Guy) Atkinson of Haslett, MI; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Willard Klein of Hillman, Jack Klein of Alpena; and sisters, Margaret (Clarence) Soeltz and Eva Klein of Hillman.

Preceding her in death were her husband in 1955; a stillborn grandson; sister, June; and a brother, Donald and his wife, Joyce.

Visitation will be Wednesday, April 22, from 4-8 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Royston. The funeral will be Thursday, April 23, at 12:00 noon with visitation from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service with Rev. Jason Mandley officiating. Arrangements are being handled by Bannan Funeral Home.

Those desiring to give a memorial may consider St. John Lutheran Church or Hospice of Michigan.
