Tillie DeKett
passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at Tendercare, Alpena.

She was born Tillie Doane on August 26, 1918, in Detroit, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman, whom she married on September 3, 1938; two brothers; one sister; and three sons: Charles, Robert, and Gordon.

Surviving are Judith (Mrs. Richard) Ableidinger, Linda (Mrs. Dennis) Klemens; and daughter-in-law, Joy DeKett; along with 7 grandchildren, Sarah, Carrie, Candy Sue, Charles, Mark, Carlene, Heather; 10 great-grandchildren, Elly, Lily, Christopher, Emily, Brandon, Brooke, Daniel, Naji, Desmond, Lucas; and sisters, Alice (Mrs. Kenneth) Hurst and Ruth (Mrs. Kenneth) Liscombe plus several nieces and nephews.

A member of Community of Christ Church, she was an active community member, having served on the Senior Citizen Board, Garden Club member and president, Cancer Society, and a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary Post 2496, where she served as president for several years. Many will remember her many handmade quilts and Christmas tree ornaments as she shared these talents with family and friends along with her garden flowers and a good game of cards.

Friends may call at the Bannan Funeral Home on Thursday beginning at 1:00 p.m. where the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary 2496 will have a prayer service at 5:30 p.m. followed by the funeral service with Elder Lynn Field officiating.
