Helen Viola Davis
, 91, of Lachine formerly of Hillman, passed away Saturday, July 25, 2009 at Victoria Adult Foster Care Home in Lachine.

Helen Viola Bahling was born in Alpena County to the late William and Hattie (Kirchoff) Bahling on January 8, 1918 and married Thomas Henry Davis on November 1, 1941. He preceded her in death on February 10, 1974. Mrs. Davis taught for the Alpena Public Schools retiring in 1977. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church - Alpena and M.A.R.S.P. and a past member of St. John Lutheran Church in Royston. She enjoyed quilting and was known as "Grand Cookie".

Surviving are 4 children: Rosalie and husband Alfred Standen of Lachine, Thomas and wife Katherine of Hillman, Harry and wife Mary of Hillman, Richard and wife Jean of Hillman; 13 grandchildren: Alan, Crystal, Tommy, Sheri, Chad, Harry, Charlie, Cory, Heidi, Jason, Sara, Adrian, Heather; 29 great grandchildren; 2 brothers and 2 sisters: Dorothy Jacobs of Lachine, Harriet Scheller of Hillman, Frank Bahling of Lachine, Ernest and wife Marie Bahling of Lachine.

Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by 2 sisters: Esther DeCare, Delight Bahling and 1 brother Erving Bahling.

Mrs. Davis is at the Bannan Funeral Home in Alpena where friends may call on Monday from 2-8 p.m. Visitation will continue at St. Paul Lutheran Church - Alpena on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until time of funeral service at 10 a.m. with Reverend Paul Owens officiating.

Interment: Hillman-Rust Township Cemetery
