Mabel M. Boetticher
, 103, of 200 N. Elizabeth Street in Hillman, passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2009, at Hillman's Haven.

Mabel was born in Blackfork, Ohio on March 22, 1906 to the late Edward and Rosella (McGarvey) Townsend and married Irwin Boetticher on August 8, 1931. He preceded her in death on November 28, 1984. Mrs. Boetticher taught in a one room school house and later in the Adena, Ohio area for 30 years. Along with her husband Irwin they directed and acted in the Adena Lions Club minstrel shows for 20 years. Mabel was active in her church by teaching Sunday School and active in women's groups. She was a member of Adena women's club for 62 years, bridge clubs, rook clubs and a 4-H Leader and Girls Scouts for 25 years. Mabel volunteered for the hospital in Cadiz Ohio for many years. She also enjoyed entertaining civic groups with her impersonation of Minnie Pearl for over 55 years. Mabel even presented her Minnie Pearl program to Hillman area groups up until a year ago. Groups like Lifelong Learners at the Alpena Community College and the Red Hatters. She liked to do it for the old people, she said.

Surviving are her son-in-law, Marlin Goebel, of Hillman; 4 grandchildren, Kurt and Pam, Kathy and Mike Huxford, Keith and Michelle, Kory and Lisa; 14 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandson.

Preceding her in death were her daughter, Jean, on March 2, 2008; 1 brother, Lawrence; and 1 sister, Nelle.

Cremation arrangements have been made with the Bannan Funeral Home in HILLMAN. A memorial service is intended later this summer.

It is the fervent prayer of the family that any memorial gifts will be used to reach out with God's word and proclaim the salvation of Jesus Christ so none will leave this earth without knowing Him as their personal Savior
