Nora June Bloom, 87, of 5443 Bloom Road, Alpena, passed away Monday, November 16, 2009 at Alpena Regional Medical Center.

Nora was born in Alpena on May 8, 1922 to the late Ralph and Jenny (Smith) Bailey. On March 13, 1943 she married Roy Bloom at First Congregational United Church of Christ. He preceded her in death on June 24, 2001. Mrs. Bloom was a country school teacher.

She was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ and the Antique Tractor and Steam Engine Club.

Surviving are 2 sons, Frederick and Donna of Presque Isle, Richard and Mary Jane of Alpena; 3 daughters, Mary Ellen and Jeff Walker of Ossineke, Sandra and James Whitcomb of Woodhaven, Nancy and Henric Horodoysky of Chesterfield; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Nora was preceded in death by her son, Daniel in 1999; a granddaughter; 1 sister, Phyllis Wright; and 1 brother, Lee Bailey.

Family and friends may call on Thursday at the First Congregational United Church of Christ from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Thomas Orth and Rev. Virginia Titus officiating. Arrangements are being handled by Bannan Funeral Home.
