Mary Lowida (Davison) Bey, 85, of 1113 S. Fourth Avenue, Alpena, passed away Sunday, February 22, 2009, at the home of her brother Bob and his wife Cindy, who has devotedly nursed Mary through this last year.

Mary was the daughter of the late Samuel J. and Beulah (Cunningham) Davison and was born in Alpena on November 16, 1923. She remained a lifelong Alpena resident. Mary retired as the executive secretary for the Alpena County Selective Service in 1973 after 25 years of service. She then worked at Peoples Bank & Trust, Alpena Chamber of Commerce and Alpena Community College.

Over the years Mary either chaired or was a member of committees and local projects such as: a volunteer for the Alpena Regional Medical Center, Zonta, Civic League, and St. John's Altar Society, coupled with her endless fund work for worthy appeals.

Surviving are her brothers: James (Mary Henry) Davison, Philip (Mary Lou Smith) Davison, Dr. Robert (Cynthia MacMillan) Davison all of Alpena, and John (Donna Bay) Davison of Corona del Mar, California. "Aunt Mary" was dearly loved by her many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Arnold E. Bey; daughter, Jennifer; and brother, Samuel J. Davison.

Visitation will be at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. with Rev. Patrick Maher and Rev. Kenneth Stachnik officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Michigan or Huron Humane Society. Arrangements are being handled by Bannan Funeral Home.

Interment: Evergreen Cemetery
